When I started this blog I knew one of the first things that I wanted to do was a home tour. I always get tons of questions on where my items are from. So what better way to spread the knowledge than an home tour! When we were making the final decision on our house plans we knew that we wanted one large space for our family room. When you walk through our front door the open view takes your breath away. We have 4 large windows and set of french doors that allow for an amazing amount of natural light.
The Entry
Welcome Friends! You have now walked through the front door of our little blue farmhouse. When you are standing at the front door; to the left I have a piano that was passed down to me from my grandmother. My grandfather had bought it for her so it holds a lot of meaning in my heart. The original look of the piano did not mesh well with the other pieces in my house. So, a simple coat of chalk paint gave this piano the new life that it needed. I love being able to style the piano for every season. It was the perfect addition to our entry.
- The lights on each side of the mirror are from Amazon.
- Flooring is from Floor and Decor
- Door is from Home Depot
- White rug, wreath, plant, lantern, and metal fan are all from homegoods. A similar wreath can be found here and a similar fan can be found here.
- The mirror was a yard sale find.
- Paint is SW Repose Gray
From the front door to the right is our basement staircase. We wanted to leave this open so that again we could get the most natural light in the room as possible. Our kids were 2 & 4 when we moved in so the steps definitely scared me at first. But, much to my surprise they were never an issue! Somehow we have had more adults fall down them than children.
The Basement Staircase
- The clock is from Hobby Lobby
- The light is the same one listed above
- The railing is made from rough cut 6×6 lumber and black pipe
Next up, on the wall of the front door we were able to create this cute drop area for under $40.00 from Hobby Lobby! It is amazing what a difference these few items made in this space. Check out my instagram for a before and after!
- Wall Sign from Hobby Lobby
- Baskets from Hobby Lobby
- Beads from Hobby Lobby (I can’t find them online)- Similar look here.
- Metal Tag from Hobby Lobby
That wraps up the home tour of the Entry Way. Check back soon as I will be sharing our Living Room details next! I’m sure it is clear that my favorite places for decor are Hobby Lobby, Homegoods, and Amazon. These stores make it so easy to transform a space without breaking the bank. If there is something that I missed please be sure to leave a comment below and I will try to find you a link! Thanks so much for joining me for part one of my home tour! Be sure to subscribe so that you will know when part two is up!

I love your stairs, we are building and looking to do a similar stair railing design. Where did you get the metal looking piece that is where the black pipe meets the wooden post?! Love it, if you could share the link, if you have it!
It is just a black pipe flange! They are sold where the black pipe is π
Did you do the flooring on your stairs going downstairs?
We did!
Did you use a wax over the chalk paint?
I did not! I just used the chalk paint.
I know you said you just used the paint. Looking at it on amazon it looks more black then in your picture. Did you use a filter and it lightened it up a lot? Or does only one coat make it this color?
The paint dries more of a charcoal gray color! My photos do have a filter on them, but even in person it is more gray. π
Love the railing! How did you get the wood post into the flooring?
We used a metal bracket that was wider than the post. We attached the bracket to the post, then to the floor! π
What did you use for the trim around the opening of your stairs? Iβm trying to come up with something for mine. Thanks.
Its just a L shaped piece of metal. Its almost like a metal corner bead. we spray painted it bronze to blend better!
What is the name of the floor. They are so pretty
Its linked on the resources tab with an unfiltered picture π
Its linked on the resources tab with an unfiltered picture! π
Did you sand the piano before you painted it?
I did not! I just used chalk paint π
I just saw up there you said REPOSE GRAY!
I absolutely love your home!!!! I don’t know if this has been asked but what color paint did you use?
Hi there, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just
curious if you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can recommend?
I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any help is very much appreciated.
Im sorry I dont have any advice. I read and approve/deny each comment before it is posted, so I just delete and spam those comments. I agree, it is super frustrating!
I LOVE your flooring. Can you send me an email of the picture of it unfiltered?
please email me at krissy@boldboundlessblonde.com and I will get one sent to you π
Love the railing. Where did you get the posts and how tall are they?
Thanks
They are from menards and they were 8 foot post but we cut them in half so they are about 4ft each.
Hi, love the stair railing…where did you find the posts?
Thank you! We just used rough cut 6×6 (they come in 8 ft, so we cut them in half) and black pipe to make it! The posts were from Menards!
Love the railing and wood posts! Did you use a tutorial to build it? If so I would love a link. We are building our house right now and thatβs exactly what we want!
Thank you! I am sorry I dont have any tutorials for that. It was one of the first things that my husband and I did when we built our house. We just used rough cut 6×6 (they come in 8 ft, so we cut them in half) and black pipe to make it!
I absolutely love your stair railing ! Where is the black pipe from ? I think you said amazon on your blog but canβt find that size ! Can you let me know ! Thanks
The black pipe is just from the hardware store π its 3/4″
Is the flooring link still accurate? I ordered a sample and it seems much darker than it does in your photos! Is it the Hampstead Rotterdam Embossed in Register Laminate? It seems far more gray than that piece looked.
Thanks!
It is accurate! My photos do have filters, but the online photos are way different than in person. Sometimes samples can be misleading as well. If you private message me on instagram, I can send you a larger area unfiltered!
Thanks!
Did one can of paint do you entire piano?
Yep! With a little left over π
How many cans of chalk paint did it take to do your whole piano?
Just one! With a little left over π
Great post.
I love the color you painted your piano! Iβm trying to get the nerve up to paint mine & this is perfect. Can you please tell me what color you used & what kind of chalk paint? Thank you!
Thank you! I just used Rustoleum Charcoal Chalk Paint π
I am trying to get sample of the flooring in your living room. I went to the link but could not find your flooring. Would you mind telling me the exact color and if its wood or laminate so I can order a sample. By the way your home is gorgeous. Thank you
Sincerely
Kristi Chaffin
The flooring linked is my flooring. The online photos are much darker than it is in person. It is the Rotterdam Laminate from Floor and Decor. I definitely recommend getting the sample first so you can see its true colors. Thank you so much π
Your home is so beautiful and the perfect place for friends and family to gather together. I love seeing the memories you are creating here with your family! Canβt wait to see more!
Thank you Brit! I love being able to have everyone over to make those memories!
I love the piano and the stair railing! It makes It feel like home to have pieces from family in your home.
Thank you! It sure does!
