With summer winding down, my family and I were in need of a quick, family friendly, getaway to relax and unwind before the new school year! My husband and I had visited the Smoky Mountains before and loved it. I knew that it would be the perfect place to visit with my kiddos. I started researching Gatlinburg Hotels and when I saw Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort I knew it was PERFECT! Just from the website I could see that they had all the amenities that we were looking for. When traveling during the pandemic, I try to chose resorts that offer everything we need on the property. This allows us to enjoy ourselves, without having to worry about venturing off too much. Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort was full of amazing rooms, pools, an indoor water park, activities for the kids, onsite restaurants and bars, and more! We loaded up the kids and headed off for our seven hour drive to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
The Rooms
During our stay we were in a Two Bedroom Villa. The setup was perfect for us as we traveled with my sister-in-law and her two kiddos. We each had our own space, yet we were able to open the connecting doors so that the kids could come and go through the rooms. Each room was equip with a living space, kitchen, separate bedroom, large bathroom, and even a washer and dryer! Not to mention, the view from our balcony was BREATHTAKING. We sat on the balcony every night watching the sun go down over the mountains. Talk about relaxing!
The Pools & Water Park
The first pool that we checked out was the Mountain Top Infinity Pool. After the long drive, the kids were so ready to run around and burn off some energy! Mountain Top Pool Bar is conveniently located at the pool where you can even order pizza! It wasn’t log before the kids were begging to head to Wild Bear Falls Water Park !
Wild Bear Falls is perfect for families and kids of all ages, even my little ones! We spent the majority of our stay hanging out at the water park because there was something for everyone to enjoy. On the second floor of the water park you can find Roaring Fork Restaurant. The food was great and affordable! We had lunch there one day, and dinner the next! They even had a couple things that were allergy friendly for my son!
The Views
One of my favorite parts of our stay was winding down each day with a drink from Southern Comfort lobby bar and taking in these stunning views from our balcony. One night we even got to see a bear! That may have been the highlight of the trip for my sister in law. It is all she talked about on the drive down.
Other Activities & Things to Do
Of course we had to take advantage of all the activities like mini golf and bingo! They even offer “Craft and Chill” where you pickup a prepackaged activity to take back to your room! The painted tea pots were a “Craft and Chill” and we took them the next day where the sweet staff from the activities department helped the kids plant succulents in them! We also couldn’t pass up on a photo op with the perfect backdrop! I captured so many sweet photos of the kids that I will cherish forever!
Looking for more?
Although the Resort is packed full of all the amenities you can think of, it’s location is perfect for all the things to do in Gatlinburg! Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort even has a trolley pickup spot that runs daily to Gatlinburg! If we had more time, we definitely would have went to these Mountain Coasters.
While our visit was short, the memories we made while we were there will last us a lifetime. Westgate’s Resort in the Smoky Mountains was incredible and I cannot wait to visit again soon! In fact, we loved Westgate so much, we are already planning a trip to Orlando for our Anniversary in October!
