Deciding on a theme for my sons room was not easy. Eventually we will be finishing the basement and making rooms for both kids down there. I wanted to choose a theme that he would be happy with for a few years until his new room was built. At the time my son was only 4. So I was leaning more towards big boy room vs. toddler boy room. When you search “boy bedroom” on Pinterest there are a ton of different styles. My son is hardly into sports and super heroes so right away those were out. I have never been a character fan so that was out of the question as well. After many days of searching we decided on an Adventure Room.

THE BEDDY’S!

First of all, I am a sucker for buffalo check and anything that makes it easy for the kids to help! I am absolutely obsessed with his beddy’s. Before we had beddy’s making the beds in here was a nightmare. 9/10 unless we had company coming over we did not make the beds at all. The top bunk was basically impossible and I am not strong enough to lift the bottom bunk mattress alone so without help even if I tried the bed looked horrible anyway.

The beddy is a sheet, blanket, and comforter in one. The best part – IT ZIPS UP! Its like a ginormous sleeping bag that looks fabulous. My son said it is the most comfortable thing he has ever slept in! When we came home from a long weekend away the first thing he said was “I can’t wait to sleep in my beddy’s!” Coming from someone who previously claimed the only comfortable bed in the house was Mommy & Daddy’s, I’d say we have a winner!

I love the look of a gallery wall around the tv. Both of my kids rooms are set up like this! I am also totally loving the boys only sign I got at hobby lobby.

The Nerf Gun Wall

We get so many questions about this Nerf Gun wall! It was SO easy! Click here to order this steel pegboard. That’s it! The pegboard comes with adjustable metal hooks. All we did was arrange them on the board and hang the guns from it. As the guns have broken or he has gotten new ones we have just arranged the hooks to fit the new guns! Everyone that comes here is amazed by the nerf gun wall! Even the adult men are jealous! haha

This desk was another DIY. We used 3 cube organizers on each side and then just used 1 X’s on the top. The cube organizers were cheap and made of pressed wood. When we tried to screw the wood unto the top the sides basically crumbled. We used the pattern vinyl to cover it up and honestly I’m glad it happened because I love how the vinyl looks on the side!

After two years we have only made minor changes to his big boy bedroom. Originally we had a tent in the corner where the desk now is. He never used it so we thought a desk would be more functional. Hopefully by the time he is tired of this room it will be time for his room in the basement. One thing is for sure, I will be designing his new room around his Checked Out Beddy’s!
