Use Plasti Dip Craft to create beautiful boho style baskets in just 3 simple steps!

I absolutely love the look of the half painted boho style baskets that I have been seeing everywhere! I knew I could save a ton of money by recreating the look in a simple DIY! It was time to get Crafty! The dark basket has been laying around my house for awhile, and I picked up the faux fiddle leaf plant the other day while I was out! These were the perfect baskets to try out my Plasti Dip Craft!

I am sure you have heard of Original Plasti Dip – but did you know they have a Plasti Dip Craft line? Plasti Dip is a flexible coating, it won’t crack, chip, or become brittle! Plasti Dip Craft is also peelable off most surfaces, and while I used it for the flexibility and texture benefits, it would be great for other peelable applications – the possibilities are endless!

Step 1 – Prepare your Baskets

This is seriously one of the easiest DIY’s I have ever done! 3 Steps and your done! Below is the list of supplies you will need!

• Plasti Dip Craft (Color & Glossifier)-Shop now on Amazon
• Tape
• Plastic
• Basket(s)

The first thing you are going to do is tape off where you want your color to begin, and use plastic to protect where you don’t! I always do a layer of tape only – then go over that with tape and plastic. This not only adds a double layer of protection, but it is easier to add the plastic to tape vs directly onto the basket! Be sure to try and keep your tape as even as possible when going around the basket.

Step 2 – Paint

Once both of your baskets are taped and covered, its time to spray! Make sure you are in a well ventilated area before getting started. Lay some plastic down to not only protect the area, but also to protect your wet baskets from anything getting stuck to them. I decided to use White on the darker basket and Black on the lighter. When spraying, remember to spray with long continuous strokes and refrain from holding the can in one place for to long.

I did two coats on each basket, allowing for dry time in between. For the darker basket I was able to lay it on its top and spray all the way around each time. For the basket with the plant, I had to lay it on its side and turn it as it dried. The type of basket definitely made a difference when spraying. The basket with the plant covered easier and had much cleaner lines. While the darker basket still looks great, the thicker weave was harder to get into all the crevices.

Step 3 – Glossify & Enjoy!

Before removing the tape and plastic, I sprayed each basket with the Plasti Dip Craft Glossifier. The Glossifier will add a glossy polished shine, as well as help protect against fading! While this step is optional, I highly recommend it!

Once your Glossifier is dry, remove the tape and enjoy!

NOTE: Glossifier is developed to be applied over Plasi Dip only, it’s not a stand-alone finish that can be used for or on any other surfaces.
