Now that Demo was over, it was time to start painting! I went to home depot and grabbed BEHR Ultra Pure White & Limousine Leather.
Preparing the Walls
As I mentioned before, the wallpaper that we had used on the top half of the wall DESTROYED the drywall. Some spots were worse than others, but I ended up taking joint compound topping and lightly coating the majority of the wall. Once that was dry I sanded it down and it was on to paint!
My original vision for the paint in this room did not quite turn out as planned. I wanted to try out black paint for the board and batten and white at the top and long story short, I HATED IT! The top also had several “hotspots” where you could see where the patches of topping where.
I made the walk of shame back to the Home Depot Paint Department to find the perfect paint! I knew covering the black wasn’t going to be easy so I am so thankful for the knowledgeable HD Staff who listened to my whole spiel and recommended I use BEHR Multi Surface Primer. It defintely made the whole process much easier!
Within a 4 day stretch this one space had many faces. From destroyed drywall and blue paint, to black trim (its a no for me), completely primered, and then finally the most beautiful gray green & bright white!

The Toilet Room
I was SO excited to put up my new wallpaper from Wunderwall Mural! Wunderwall mural is my go to for all types of wallpaper! (The wallpaper that damaged the walls is NOT from Wunderwall Mural!) I found an image on Shutterfly and they were able to make it into a mural style wallpaper! They create your wallpaper specifically for your space so there is minimal waste!
I added my simple DIY Board & Batten (tutorial for that HERE) and painted it Limousine Leather.
Again the black was NOT doing it for me, so I primed and decided to go opposite of main space and used INCOGNITO for the B&B and I LOVE IT!
This was definitely one of those times when your project may not go exactly as planned, but the shift is SO worth it! DIY is a beast, and you definitely have to go with the flow.
Now that the painting and wallpaper are done, I am SO excited to see what Week 3 brings! Maybe a little tile?
